【摘要】:Thispracticecoversfourproceduresforseparationandqualitativeidentificationofpoly(vinylchloride)(PVC)contaminationinpoly(ethyleneterephthalate)(PET)flakes.Note1-Althoughnotpresentedasaquantitativemethod,procedurespresentedinthispracticemaybeusedtoprovidequantitativeresultsatthediscretionoftheuser.Theuserassumestheresponsibilitytoverifythereproducibilityofquantitativeresults.DatafromanindependentsourcesuggestaPVCdetectionlevelof200ppm(w/w)basedonanoriginalsampleweightof454g.ProcedureAisbasedondifferentfluorescenceofPVCandPETwhenthesepolymersareexposedtoultraviolet(UV)light.ProcedureBisanoventestbaseduponthecharringofPVCwhenitisheatedinairat235C.ProceduresCandDaredyetestsbasedondifferentialstainingofPVCandPET.Note2-Otherpolymers(forexample,PETG)alsoabsorbthestainorbrightener.SuchinterferenceswillresultinfalsepositiveidentificationofPVCasthecontaminant.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardsseeSection8.Note3-ThereisnoequivalentISOstandard.
